BREAKING: Man Previously Photographed With Supervisor Kevin Crye Arrested on Firearm-Related Charges, Released on Bail


Update: Supervisor Kevin Crye released a video statement acknowledging that the arrested individual was a supporter and acquaintance, and distanced himself from his actions.
Redding Calif. - Michael Jay Kamfolt, who was photographed alongside District 1 Supervisor Kevin Crye at a May 2025 protest outside his business, The Ninja Coalition, and in November 2024 at the Shasta County Elections office, was arrested on January 20, 2026, by the California Highway Patrol.




Kamfolt faces multiple firearm-related charges, including possession of an assault weapon and converting a firearm to a machine gun. His bail was set at $50,000. As of 5:00 pm he was able to post bail.

Kamfolt was also present at a November 8, 2024, Board of Supervisors meeting where Jenny O’Connell-Nowain was arrested during a silent protest. At that meeting Kamfolt was present alongside members of the Cottonwood militia.
